How can you help protect your child?

BCG is currently the only available TB vaccine and can help protect against tuberculosis infection. The BCG vaccine can be provided as part of routine immunization for infants. Consult with your healthcare professional for further information.

Protects against: Polio; a disease caused by a virus that can affect the nerves

To be given: As soon as possible after birth

How can you help protect your child?

The polio vaccine can be provided alone or included in combination vaccines that also help protect against other diseases, as part of routine immunization for infants. Unfortunately, there is no cure for the disease. Consult with your healthcare professional for further information.

What should you do if you miss the vaccination?

CATCH-UP VACCINATION
If you miss out the dose of these vaccinations during the stipulated time, you can consult with your doctor for a Catch-up Vaccination.

Pre-vaccination care during the pandemic

What are the precautions to be taken during vaccination in these times?

  • Visit your Pediatrician with a prior Vaccination appointment only
  • Use an alcohol-based sanitizer at frequent intervals
  • All caretakers and children, except infants should wear a mask
  • Maintain social distancing at all times & avoid surface contacts as much as possible
  • Don’t carry any toys/personal objects and avoid touching door handles
  • Senior citizens (more than 60 years of age) should not accompany the vaccinee
  • Enter, exit & conduct yourself in the Vaccination clinic as per staff’s advice
After-vaccination Care
  • After vaccination, your child may experience pain at the injection site or rash. However, these reactions are mild and may go away soon.
  • Your doctor will guide you to follow a set of instructions post vaccination. Please follow those instructions carefully.
Additional Tips
  • Read the information on the vaccination thoroughly before you visit your doctor
  • Plan the vaccination during the weekend so that you can give ample time to your child post the vaccination
  • Make sure your baby is wearing clothes that have the arms exposed so that you don’t have to remove them during vaccination
  • Carry your child’s favourite toy to calm them
  • If your child is older, explain them the benefits of vaccination
